Longer Days, More Boating. Bring it on!

Now daylight savings has arrived, it truly feels like we’ve turned the corner into longer, warmer days, i.e. perfect for boating adventures! For the fishermen and women among us, now is the time to look for the workups that happen during spring. And shallow waters up to 30 meters can offer excellent fishing opportunities.

With more daylight hours to play around with, you might just have time to finish work a couple of hours early, beat the traffic, and head out for a late afternoon or early evening fish. This is where our drystack comes into play – we can have your boat in the water and ready to go with just 60 minutes’ notice. Boating has never been easier! On another note, we’re entering ‘rush hour’ for marine servicing. I’ve said this before, but spaces with our resident operators are filling up fast. For peace of mind on the water, please don’t leave your servicing needs until the last minute. Otherwise, take care, safe boating and we look forward to seeing you at TMP.

Safe boating and happy reading,

– Martin and the Tamaki Marine Park Team

Squeeze More Boating Into Your Week!

With daylight saving, there’s no better opportunity to enjoy quick late afternoon or early evening boating trips. Here are some activities to make the most of our longer days:

Evening Picnic on Motuihe

Pack your portable BBQ and anchor at one of the many beaches in the Hauraki Gulf. Spots like Motuihe Island are close by, and if you’re there mid-week, chances are it will be nice and quiet.

Watersport Thrills and Spills

The Hauraki Gulf has a number of designated areas for water skiing, wakeboarding, and other towed water sports. On Waiheke, Surfdale and Onetangi have marked access lanes. On Motuihe Island, Ocean Beach and Wharf Bay also have designated access lanes.

Catch Dinner!

You’ve probably got your go-to fishing spots, but the great thing is, you don’t have to go too far to get a good catch. Try the Rangitoto Channel, Motuihe Channel, or off Rakino Island for some quality late afternoon or early evening fishing.

Horizon III's Two-Month Makeover

We caught up with Gloss Boats, TMP’s resident marine painting professionals. Reuben, Gloss Boats’ Inside Foreman, talks us through their latest project – a two-month repaint of the 68ft launch Horizon III. And as Reuben so subtly added, the Gloss Boats team are vastly experienced across the full range of marine surface applications – so give them a call!
