December 2024 Updates
Have a safe summer on the water…
We have now reached that crazy time with the Christmas holidays (and hopefully fantastic cruising) just around the corner. It has been great seeing customers back on site getting their boats ready for the holidays. There has been a real hum around the yard with people busy working on their boats. There has been a strong uptake in the boat yard with boats coming out for hull scrubs and antifouls. It is noticeable the effects that having a quick hull bottom clean mid-season or after the summer season has on a on boat when getting ready for the new season ahead! A good reminder to book in for a lift wash return in the February/March. There is nothing better than seeing a boat going back into the tide with a fresh antifoul on the hull bottom and gleaming prop speed!
Similarly, in the dry stack, boats have been coming down to the work cradles for servicing of engines and systems and general valet buff and polishes. It is great seeing this activity around the site. And good to hear customers stories of how the fish are biting out there already. Looking forward to seeing some photo proof from some customers!
Fingers crossed for perfect Christmas cruising…

Customers Share Their Favourite Anchorages in Hauraki Gulf
The Tamaki Marine Park community love to share their favourite anchorage spots to ensure everyone enjoys all the Gulf has to offer. If you are planning on cruising the Gulf this Summer why not add some of these bays to your list…
Chamberlains Bay – Ponui Island
Donkey spotting and listening out for kiwi calls are just some of the many reasons that make this spot different. Located on the northern side of Ponui Island, Chamberlains Bay is sheltered, private, and offers a small sandy beach.
Woody Bay – Rakino Island
This anchorage offers a beach tree swing, a perfect spot for sandy shore picnicking, and good holding and anchorage in all breeze direction, except Westerly. Rakino will not disappoint of you enjoy snorkelling, spearfishing, or a day on the island walking.
Calypso Bay – Motuihe Island
Hidden on the south-eastern side of Motuihe, Calypso Bay is the Gulfs best kept swimming anchorage spot. The Bay can be popular in summer, for good reason. Great snorkelling, bustling rock pools, and superb sandy beaches. Ideal for tranquil weather as anchorage offering pretty good holding, but is not as sheltered as other nearby Bays.
Otopoto Bay – Waiheke Island
Hidden at the west end of Onetangi, Otopoto Bay offers a great escape and sheltered bay for all directions except northerlies. Pubs, cafes, and a charming beach all easy access from the shore.
